A Year in Review

We are so thankful for the overwhelming support Baby Bear Cranial Clinic has received from the medical community, as well as the community at large. In our first year, we had the honor of helping 97 families from all over Wisconsin. Because we are the only cranial-specific orthotic clinic north of Milwaukee our reach is quite expansive. Of the 97 families we saw, 43 of them have benefited from our cranial remolding helmet services. The other 45 were either not candidates for cranial remolding helmets or decided it was not the best treatment option for them. The fact that these 45 families trusted us with their care is such a huge compliment and we are grateful we were able to educate them and give them peace of mind with their decision. This is what we are all about! Whether you are certain your baby will need a cranial remolding helmet before you even come in, or you are just wanting another set of eyes to make sure you are doing the right thing, we are here for you. It has been so fun to work with such amazing families and I always feel like I am losing a friend when a baby graduates from their helmet.

As we move into 2022 we continue to stick to our core values of education and prevention of cranial deformities. To further this effort we have begun offering an educational class, called Head to Tummy Time to help parents get valuable information regarding head shape and proactive movements as early as possible. It is being offered both in-person (at Alba birth center) and virtually. The content is GOOD- seriously, I pull up my powerpoint in roughly half of my consults to reference this material. Getting the word out about this course has been hard because… spoiler alert… WE is actually just ME. So… help me out… tell your friends who are having babies!

We continue to offer free consultations. Keep in mind that cranial deformities are a time-sensitive issue and the administrative and fabrication work can take several weeks, so the sooner we see patients the more opportune the treatment process will be. We can always decide to “wait and see” after the consultation, but at least we have a baseline to see if the head shape is getting better or worse to compare to, and we can have a significant portion of the administrative process already completed.

We are so excited for the adventures that 2022 is going to bring. May you stay happy, healthy, and hopeful as we enter this new year.
